Between Science, Leadership, and Creation
I’m William Zea. Throughout my career, I have worked across different areas of healthcare, from providing direct patient care to Medical Leadership, Healthcare Management, Quality Improvement, Medical Auditing, and Public Health.
I am particularly interested in understanding how systems work, identifying opportunities for improvement, and turning ideas into solutions that create meaningful impact.
Beyond medicine, I find in art and writing different ways to observe, interpret, and express the world.
Three facets, one person
Medicine & Healthcare
I practice medicine in Ecuador, and throughout my career I have developed much of my experience in Medical Leadership and healthcare management. My work has also focused on quality, medical auditing, and public health, with a particular interest in understanding healthcare systems, improving their processes, and contributing to safer, more efficient, and more human-centered care. Patient care remains an important part of my practice, but my perspective goes beyond the consultation room: I am interested not only in the person who needs care, but also in the system that makes that care possible.

Art
I paint to explore things that can sometimes be difficult to express with words: emotions, memory, experiences, the human body, and everything that remains after an experience. My work moves between expressionism and abstraction, exploring color, texture, and gesture as ways of expressing what cannot always be explained. Each work is also a process of discovery: some begin with a specific idea, while others emerge through the act of painting and gradually find their own language.

Writing
I have always felt the need to put into words ideas, experiences, and questions that do not always find a place in medicine or art. I write about life, people, health, emotions, and the small stories we encounter along the way. Some come from my experience as a physician; others simply come from observing and listening. I am still discovering my own voice as a writer. This space will grow with me, and it will become a home for my books, stories, and other writing projects.
